]]>Created for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and featuring the inimitable Sean Jones, this details breast cancer and how it spreads, using detailed photographs from electron microscopy as reference in order to keep as much detail and accuracy as possible. The pink cells are breast cancer cells that are in the act of replicating, the orange ones are extending in order to attempt to metastasize. Only a portion of his body is showing as the cancer consumes the host, to pay testament to how this bodily event can take away people’s sense of wholeness and identity and in some cases of survivors, actual parts of their bodies.
The composition is meant to be read as the cells attempting to cooperate to form an attack, but the Pink Ribbon is in the middle, warding off the spread of the cancer and for the purposes of this composition, effectively preventing the cancer cells from communicating with one another.
Complimentary colour schemes adorn the edges to convey the frenetic movement of the cancer cells and how rapidly they can spread and overcome the host, adding some beauty to something that’s deadly. If anything, I hope this piece teaches people to treat cancer seriously and to treat the natural world around us with awe and respect for how quickly the equilibrium of even our bodies can be turned against us.
50% of the profits of this piece sold will be going to Sean’s preferred breast cancer charity- Pink Ribbon Foundation. Art has the capacity to help the world; this is just a small nod to what it can do.

]]>Serebro-A bodypainting that came out of meeting Olea. The name is a mixture of the phoenetics of the word silver in Russian, and also has intentional lyrical reminders of the word cerebral, around its edges. Although highly decorated and obviously prized, there is a darkness to her, a mourning. She clutches at her luxury like it doesn’t matter to her any more, her eyes looking out into the canvas searching, asking “is there something more than this?”
Lineforms inspired by the silhouettes of peacocks adorn her chest, but they are at once extravagant and muted; a further testament to her state. As the piece moves further down, it disintegrates into richly coloured abstractions, the lines going with the form of her body and indicative of her kaleidoscopic emotions underneath, before a final flash of red signals the death throes of colour, fading into further darkness below.
Technical details:
The collar was painted by hand and contains over 200 hand placed crystals.
Everything is hand painted including the base. No airbrush was used

]]>A signature bodypaint created for fine art, storytelling and experimentation. Sequins, jewels and glitter were lavishly applied to add a sense of opulence to the overall work and to bring a more regal and Thai quality to it. Each jewel and sequin were attached by hand; The gold fingernails are influenced by Thai dancers, and designs are entirely hand painted- no airbrush or stencils were used. Camp culture embodying bold colours and glitter are signature to both of their aesthetics, and so this featured heavily, along with traditional Chinese elements to honour Suzanne’s Chinese heritage.
